Postcards from Penguin

For my Birthday this year a friend in England sent me a gift that was wonderfully tailored to me. This heavy box...
I love books and I love paper products, I love the way they feel and smell, and I love sitting down with a cup of tea to read a good book or write a letter. This box took that to a whole new level. Inside the box were 100 postcards of classic penguin covers

And the lesser recognised variations
Some of the titles made me laugh out loud...
Some made Husby laugh out loud...

Some were so pretty it's hard to believe the book originally cost something like 60p

Some were just plain weird...
Others seem like titles from my early attempts at writing fiction...
This one just made me happy...
And then I found one I recognised and was inspired to read Shakespeare again (I didn't - I just looked at it and appreciated the aesthetics!)
This one made me want to have another baby just to tie this picture in with the theme of the second nursery

This one I just loved
And just when you thought you couldn't top "Dangerous Curves" or "A severed Head"

Books, Paper Products and Lettering oh my

Oh so dated but wonderful...
And that's all before I get chance to look at the Classic covers...
Which reminded me that I have wanted to get one of these on every trip to England in recent years...
And in looking for those mugs again I found this treasure...
And this one...

The aim is to frame the postcards and hang them as a border around the ceiling in our bedroom like this but in individual frames. I'm sure we'll get around to it after Toby's college graduation!
